Have just been required to change the satellite connection because of previous satellite becoming out of use.
Pros
The efforts of the ISP/installer during change-over were adequate.
Cons
Compared to landline connections, satellite broadband is very expensive and users are held to ransom when satellite is the only connection type available.

Have just set up my broadband modem that operates on 4G cellular. Compared to my old ADSL it is incredibly faster and easy to use. Early days, but I reckon its the way to go for residential subscribers having adequate coverage/signal
Pros
As we are low users, approx 15GB per month, having 40GB for $40 compares very favourably with the $75 of our previous ISP.
One big plus of the modem is that the WAN wireless coverage is EXTREMELY good, so connectivity on WAN greatly improved.

The modem operates on 12VDC, so in the event of a power failure one can always power up using a 12V car battery with suitable jack.

Instead of making a cuppa to fill in time whilst websites loaded, the speed of this modem means less fill in time, as a consequence less cuppas!

Poor communication took days for them to get back with a response to an inquiry. Charged me connection fee and data usage for over a month even though i disconnected on the same day i was connected as they were unable to connect to my router (though i have used the same for other providers!) ...read more

On install I had network speed issues and despite following all the required tests no one at BigPipe could explain why my connection was not up to speed. In frustration I decided to try to resolve it myself, took apart the wiring and found that Chorus had put a screw through the cable - once I changed the wire all was ok until my plan was "upgraded" .
I'm now on 1000mb download and my service is so inconsistent that since the first week of gigabit service its never gone beyond 500mb. In fact the speed is ranging from 15mb - 150mb(if I'm really lucky) the majority of the time it sits around 20mb download with upload bouncing between 200-500mb.
Dealing with their customer service is a nightmare as its all by email and its always the same answer - test via the ONT etc etc. Given the fact my speed was working properly after I repaired the wiring, my internal network has remained constant and I have had reason to contact them multiple times since with the same problem, I would have hoped that being on their top plan somebody in customer service might have thought "Hey whats going on here" and picked up the phone or sent Chorus around to check.
But no - instead I keep getting the same generic email and no real follow up.
